  • Minister promises development initiative for Kodagu

    MADIKERI: “Kodagu district’s picture has been changed since two years now and the government has taken all the steps towards the over all development of the district in various fields,” said the District-In-charge Minister Ramchandra Gowda.

    Addressing after hoisting the national flag on the occasion of Republic Day celebrations held at district ground in Madikeri, Gowda quoted many examples about the developmental works being initiated in the district since two years.

    After inaugurating the Fire Station on Republic Day, he called upon the people representatives and officials of the district to strive hard to make the dreams of the government true in respect with the Kodagu district developmental programmes.

    Gowda asked Education Deportment to strengthen the quality of education in the district stressing on the popular phrase ‘Knowledge is Power’. He said, district will get a Kendriya Vidyalaya and a Sainik school too for which the land and grant have already been reserved.

    And one more new hostel for women sports persons being given to Kodagu at the cost of Rs 2 crore. “It will be an encouragement to Kodagu as it made its mark in sports field,” he added. He also assured that the General Thimmayya’s house will be turned as a museum and the RTO office will be shifted to other place.

    Republic day hounuer: Gowda distributed prizes and awards to those who have shown excellent performance in their respective fields. The Minister also distributed 11 power tillers to the beneficiaries, given by the Agriculture Department.Later school children presented cultural programme showing their patriotism and love towards the nation.

    Vice President of the Kodagu ZP, BC Neelamma, ZP members, Deputy Commissioner, SP Dr.K Ramachandra Rao, CEO of the ZP K Sunder Naik and others were also present.
